Cayden Bennett makes up trio of Saddlers heading off on international duty

18 March 2024

Three Saddlers players have jetted off on international duty this week.

Liam Gordon will be off to Saudi Arabia where Guyana will take on Cape Verde and Cambodia.

Brandon Comley will also join up with Montserrat this week.

Under 18s defender Cayden Bennett has received a senior call up to the Saint Kitts & Nevis squad for their upcoming friendlies against San Marino.

Gordon and Comley have numerous international caps to their names but it will be a new experience for Bennett who could represent his country for the very first time and potentially make his senior bow.

Professional Development Phase Coach Ryan Simmonds feels Bennett has earned the opportunity and is delighted to see him get called up.

“It’s amazing, not only for Cayden but for his whole family,” Simmonds said.

“He qualifies from his grandmother and speaking to Cayden, his grandmother and family are so proud.

“It’s a pleasing moment for us all at the football club, it highlights the talent we have in the building and Cayden thoroughly deserved it.”

We would like to wish all players the best of luck while away on international duty.

Supporters are reminded that our fixture against Swindon Town, which was due to take place on Saturday 23rd March, has been postponed as a result of the international call ups.
