Saddlers Head Coach Mat Sadler has hailed the ‘unbelievable’ support his side have been shown as the team were backed by 174 travelling fans on Tuesday night away at Crawley Town.
The long journey that supporters made on Tuesday night down to the Broadfield Stadium didn’t go unnoticed by the Head Coach and he stated that the team are ’thankful and proud’ of the continued backing that they have received from the supporters this season up and down the country.
“The supporters are unbelievable,” began the Head Coach. “It was incredible to have 174 with us here.
“Before we got to the game tonight, there was talk of a pitch inspection and I am glad for those guys who have made the journey that that didn’t happen tonight because the support that they give us week in, week out up and down the country, it’s no mean feat.
“The lads are so, so thankful and proud of the efforts that the supporters put in.
“We continue to want to put in the effort to make them proud, we want them to come along with us and get those numbers up as much as we possibly can and keep giving them something to really shout and celebrate about.”
As well as praising the supporters, Sadler was also keen to highlight how pleased he was with the performances of strikers Josh Gordon and Jamille Matt during the 1-1 draw against the Red Devils.
“I thought the save that Corey Addai made from Isaac Hutchinson with the effort that would have made it 2-0, I don’t think there are many in the division that would save that, I thought it was an incredible save,” he continued.
“We’ve spoken about key moments in games, that moment then prevents us from going further ahead and killing the game off but that’s what he is there to do.
“I thought Jamille (Matt) and Josh (Gordon) were outstanding. I thought Jamille was as much of a handful as you will find at this level, I thought he was incredible and I thought Josh was a fantastic foil for him as well.
“I was very, very pleased with their contributions tonight as I always am with those guys, they were extremely effective and I don’t think the Crawley defence could cope with them at times.”
