Pre-match: Stirk focused on Bradford test

29 September 2023

Walsall midfielder Ryan Stirk is looking forward to Saturday’s trip to Bradford City to rectify last week’s performance.

Although a tough game awaits at the University of Bradford Stadium, Stirk believes the Saddlers can come away with a positive result if they play to their strengths.

“It’s a tough place to go but there is nothing to fear I don’t think, I think we have a good set of lads meaning that any game we go into in this league we can go into on the front foot,” Stirk said.

“It’s a big stadium but I don’t think we will be fazed by that. I think we will play our game and focus on ourselves and try and get the three points.

“The last two games haven’t been us as a team, I feel like we can offer so much more going forward and defensively.

“We will go there looking to get the three points and hopefully we can do that.”

Stirk has enjoyed linking up with his midfield teammates Oisin McEntee and Isaac Hutchinson and he’s hoping they can cause the opposition trouble in the middle third.

“Oisin is great to play alongside, you know what you are going to get, he is physical and is going to win second balls which is vital in this league,” Stirk explained.

“Meanwhile, Hutchinson is going to get us up the pitch, get us goals and assists, so we need to get him the ball and me and Oisin can do that because we work well together and can offer different things.

“All three of us work well together. We’ve all got legs and can run all day which I think is a big thing in this league.

“If we can run over other teams in midfield and win that battle, then I think we can get more points.”
