Pre-match: Brandon Comley pleased to be back fit

27 October 2023

Walsall midfielder Brandon Comley is looking forward to a test this weekend as the Saddlers travel to the One Call Stadium to face Mansfield Town.

Mat Sadler’s team will be aiming to keep up their three-game unbeaten league streak while the Stags remain unbeaten in League Two so far this term.

Comley has just come off a period from the sidelines and played the 90 minutes on Tuesday against Crawley Town which he felt was challenging but he is optimistic of getting more minutes under his belt.

“It was a nice game to come back into definitely,” Comley said.

“I had to chase the ball around a lot in the first half which was hard. We then addressed a few things in the second half, and it was a lot more enjoyable to play. On a personal note, I could have played a lot better, but I think it was just a shock to the system, my first 90 minutes.

“As a team I’m proud of the way the boys handled and soaked up a lot of the pressure in the first half which then allowed us to work them out and really give it a good go and dominate in the second half.”

Mansfield currently sit fourth in the table and remain unbeaten in league action but this has not put off Comley who thinks the Saddlers can get a result against anyone in the league if they focus on themselves.

“Personally, I think any side in this league can beat any side on a given day,” Comley commented.

“We will go there and do what we do and not shy away from the fact that we are a good team as well.

“We have got to stand up and realise that we definitely have a chance against most teams that come out against us, if not all teams.

“It doesn’t matter to me whether they have won, lost or whatever, we analyse every game in segregation and go there to do the job which is the most important thing.”
