3 October 2023

Walsall defender Harry Williams is growing in confidence with the belief of Head Coach Mat Sadler behind him.

The 21-year-old returned to the starting XI against Bradford City and impressed with a solid performance.

Williams was delighted with the result and his display but he also highlighted that the support of captain Donervon Daniels and Joe Riley either side of him as well as the faith of the Head Coach which gave him the platform to flourish.

“The other day the gaffer said ‘believe in yourself’ so I came (to Bradford) with a clear head knowing he can trust me and knowing he believes in me is all I want,” Williams said.

“Learning from them (Daniels and Riley) each day as well is great for me, it’s only going to help me kick on and the more I play with them, the more confident I’ll get so hopefully we can stay together for the remaining games and kick on from here.”

Williams stood up to a difficult task in front of 17,000 fans at the University of Bradford Stadium on Saturday but the Saddlers were back by 427 supporters who made the trip to West Yorkshire.

The defender has applauded the support so far this season and he was pleased to have given them something to cheer about at the weekend.

“They’ve been brilliant all season and I love it,” he commented.

“They get us up for it when times are tough, they stick with us, especially away from home.

“Credit to them on Saturday, on a miserable day, travelling two and a half hours. I was glad we did it for you guys.”
