Brandon Comley focused ahead of Colchester clash

13 September 2022

Walsall midfielder Brandon Comley is focused on helping the team get back to winning ways as he prepares to face his former club Colchester United this evening.

The 26-year-old spent three seasons at the Colchester Community Stadium between 2017 and 2020.

It’s not the first time Comley has come up against his former employers and he insists there will be no change to his approach when they visit the Poundland Bescot Stadium tonight.

“It adds a little something but not too much for me,” Comley admitted.

“I’ve played against them before and in football, some players always chop and change teams.

“It would nice to get the win but it’s the same every week, you want to get the win so it doesn’t matter who you play against for me.”

Comley has played eight times so far this season for the Saddlers.

He has featured alongside Liam Kinsella in the heart of midfield and he has enjoyed growing their partnership and playing next to him.

“It’s good playing with someone who is going to run for you and help you in a lot of situations,” he said.

“He’s someone you can trust and I think that’s a massive thing, you know what you’re going to get out of the person playing next to you.

“Always communicating, always working hard for you and battling for you and that’s what I look for – someone that I always trust and know that they’re going to be there for me if I need them and he’s going to look for the ball as well.”
