Perry keen to end season on a positive note

14 April 2022

Walsall midfielder Sam Perry insists tomorrow’s match against Carlisle United is a vitally important one and he's determined to help the team return to winning ways.

The 20-year-old will be hoping to be involved after he made his first appearance since mid-March last week, coming off the bench against Rochdale last week.

Perry is keen to end the season on a high and stressed tomorrow’s match is a crucial one for the Saddlers.

"The game tomorrow is massive really,” he said.

“If we get three points on the board it will push us on for the rest of the season and that is what we are hoping for to finish as high as we can in the league.

“Hopefully we can win all of our five remaining games towards the end of the season and finish as high as possible because that will give us a boost going into next season as well.”

Perry took part in today’s open training session at the Banks’s Stadium.

He enjoyed meeting supporters and the opportunity for the team to show their appreciation.

“It’s brilliant to get the fans here and for them to watch training,” he commented.

“After the session we were able to go and take photos with them and sign autographs.

“It was good to get together really and talk to the fans to see how they feel about the season and other things like that.

“We always want to give things back to the fans and today we were able to do that even if it is a small thing. They might go away and be really happy with that.

“Hopefully they do enjoy it and that is what it is all about really. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get three points on the board.”
