Going Down The Wednesbury Road - Jake Kimberley shares his memories

25 June 2020

Our Going Down The Wednesbury Road feature gives Saddlers fans the opportunity to share their experiences with other fans from their time supporting the club.

In our next edition of the feature, Saddlers fan Jake Kimberley shares his memories of his first game, the best game he has seen at the Banks's Stadium and the most talented player he has ever seen don the red of Walsall.

What was your first ever game at the Banks's Stadium?

My first game at Banks's was Hartlepool United, we won 2-0 and Dean Keates scored two goals in the first half.

I've always asked my dad if I can go to a game at the Banks's stadium each time I past the M6 motorway, and eventually let me.

He also brought me my first Walsall top on that day too. After that victory I felt that this was the club to support because of the family and community feel.

What was the best game you've seen at the Bnaks's Stadium?

My best game has to be when we bet Sheffield Wednesday 2-1. We scored 2 late injury time goals from Claude Gnakpa and Manny Smith. The whole stadium went off when the winner came in.

Who is most talented player you've seen at the Banks's Stadium?

The most talented player I've seen at the bescot would be Romaine Sawyers. Each time he stepped on the pitch he was like the main man who created the opportunities, the way he passes the ball and he's movement was unbelievable.

Who is your favourite ever walsall player?

My favourite Walsall player has to be Andy Butler. He was a great captain and also a great leader, mainly I liked him because of how great and physical he was as a defender, he wasn't afraid of getting into a tackle on the field.
