ETHERIDGE: WE'RE IN CONFIDENT MOOD

20 February 2016

Walsall host promotion-rivals Wigan this afternoon...

Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge admits Walsall are in confident mood ahead of this afternoon’s promotion showdown with Wigan.

The Saddlers are third in the table, one point and one place ahead of Gary Caldwell’s in-form Latics, who are unbeaten in ten.

Sean O’Driscoll’s men are set to face another one of their promotion rivals next weekend, when they travel to League One leaders Burton.

And Etheridge says the squad are feeling positive heading into the next two fixtures.

“It’s a big couple of games coming up,” said Etheridge.

“We’ll keep to the same routine we have throughout the season and we’re quite confident going into both games.

“They’re not the be all and end all but we’re confident we can get some results over the next two games and now to the end of the season.”

Etheridge feels Walsall haven’t got the result they deserve in recent weeks.

“The performances have been fantastic but the results have probably gone against us slightly,” he added.

“We believe we should have taken more from Crewe and Blackpool but that’s part and parcel of football.

“We’re still in a very strong position with a lot of games still to go and we’re in a great position to end up where we feel we deserve to be.”
