Our last meeting was a six-goal thriller...


2014/15 Season
21st April 2015 – Swindon 3-3 Walsall – League One

Jordan Turnbull's late header rescued a point for promotion-chasing Swindon in a six-goal thriller. Walsall led 2-0 through Kieron Morris and Jordy Hiwula but two Ben Gladwin penalties brought Town level. Romaine Sawyers converted Ben Purkiss’ cross to make it 3-2 to the visitors, only for Turnbull to deny Walsall victory with nine minutes remaining.
Saddlers team: O’Donnell, Purkis, O’Connor, Benning, J Chambers, A Chambers, Mantom (Sawyers 72’), Cain, Morris (Forde 71’), Bradshaw, Hiwula-Mayifuila (Cook 87’).

26th December 2014 – Walsall 1-4 Swindon – League One
An Andy Williams double helped Swindon secure a comprehensive win at the Banks’s. Michael Smith’s 10th league goal of the season gave the Robins a third-minute lead, but Tom Bradshaw equalised on 18 minutes. Massimo Luongo restored Swindon’s advantage shortly after the break, and two quick-fire strikes from Williams sealed an impressive triumph.

2013/14

Season 28th January 2014 - Walsall 1-1 Swindon – League One
New signing Michael Smith scored his third goal in two matches to earn Swindon a point at fellow play-off hopefuls Walsall. Romaine Sawyers’ well-taken strike put the Saddlers ahead eight minutes before the break, but Smith’s header from Darren Ward’s cross restored parity 19 minutes from time. Substitute Ashley Hemmings clipped the bar for Walsall late on, meaning we stayed sixth.
Saddlers team: O’Donnell, Butler, Downing, Benning, J Chambers (Purkiss 72’), A Chambers, Mantom, Lalkovic, Sawyers (Hewitt 88’), Westcarr, Brandy (Hemmings 84’).

22nd October 2013 – Swindon 1-3 Walsall – League One
Ashley Hemmings scored a brace as Walsall climbed up to sixth after this comfortable win. The ex-Wolves man fired the Saddlers in front on 18 minutes, and Sam Mantom’s close-range finish made it 2-0 after half-time. Mantom struck the crossbar before Hemmings added a third, 12 minutes from time. Nile Ranger’s header salvaged some pride for Swindon in the closing stages.

2012/13 Season

9th March 2013 – Swindon 2-2 Walsall – League One
A last-gasp equaliser from Jamie Paterson rescued Walsall a point. High-flying Swindon went ahead through Andy William’s deflected effort but Will Grigg’s penalty – his sixth goal in three games – brought Walsall level. Simon Ferry’s tap-in looked to have won it for Town, but Paterson bundled home in stoppage time to extend the Saddlers’ unbeaten run to seven matches.

10th November 2012 – Walsall 0-2 Swindon – League One
Walsall’s winless run was extended to 10 games after this defeat. Dean Smith’s side made the worst possible start, Simon Ferry lashing home Gary Roberts’ cross to put play-off chasing Swindon in front after just 57 seconds. Matt Ritchie doubled their advantage on the hour-mark, ensuring Paolo Di Canio’s charges climbed into the top six.
Saddlers team: Grof, Butler, Holden, Benning, Taundry, Featherstone (Bowerman 83’), A Chambers, Baxendale (Brandy 55’), Mantom, Grigg, Paterson (Hemmings 79’).
