2015/16 SEASON

19th September 2015 – Peterborough 1-1 Walsall – League One
Substitute Michael Bostwick scored a controversial late penalty to deny Walsall victory against ten-man Peterborough. Romaine Sawyers’ thunderous 25-yard strike gave the Saddlers a deserved lead shortly after half-time. The hosts were reduced to ten men when Jermaine Anderson was sent off for throwing a water bottle into the crowd, but Bostwick’s late spot-kick earned Posh a point.
Saddlers team:Etheridge, Demetriou, Taylor (Forde 82'), O’Connor, Downing, Chambers, Mantom, Bradshaw (Lalkovic 69'), Sawyers, Henry, Flanagan (Cook 69').
Subs not used: MacGillivray, Baxendale, Preston, Morris.



2014/15 SEASON

6th April 2015 – Peterborough 0-0 Walsall – League One
A goalless draw at London Road stretched Walsall’s winless run to seven games in all competitions. Saddlers stopper Richard O’Donnell produced fine saves to thwart David Norris, Harry Anderson and Luke Jones. Michael Cain went closest for Walsall, who failed to score for a fourth consecutive match.
Saddlers team:O’Donnell, Purkiss, Taylor, O’Connor, J Chambers, A Chambers, Sawyers (Forde 69’), Cain, Morris, Cook (Bakayoko 85’), Hiwula-Mayifuila (Forde 69’).
Subs not used: MacGillivray, Downing, Kinsella, Grimes.


15th November 2014 – Walsall 0-0 Peterborough – League One
Both sides saw strong penalty appeals turned down in a scoreless encounter at the Banks’s. Walsall full-back Ben Purkiss and Peterborough defender Ricardo Santos each appeared to handle in the box, but the referee waved play on. A point kept the Saddlers in 16th position and extended our unbeaten streak to five matches.

2013/14 SEASON

14th February 2014 – Peterborough 0-0 Walsall – League One
Walsall remained on the fringes of the play-offs after being held at top-six rivals Peterborough. The Saddlers had the better of the first half, with Michael Ngoo, Sam Mantom and Milan Lalkovic each registering attempts. Posh improved after the break and went close through Michael Bostwick and Britt Assomalonga.
Saddlers team:O’Donnell, Purkiss, Downing, Benning, J Chambers, A Chambers, Mantom, Lalkovic (Baxendale 77’), Westcarr, Brandy (Hemmings 89’), Ngoo (Sawyers 70’).

18th November 2013 – Walsall 2-0 Peterborough – League One
A goal in each half from Milan Lalkovic and Romaine Sawyers secured a deserved win for the Saddlers. Lalkovic, on loan from Chelsea, fired Walsall ahead with a low curling shot on 26 minutes, and Sawyers’ right-footed drive sealed victory midway through the second period. Ashley Hemmings missed a late penalty for the hosts, while Peterborough’s Sean Brisley was dismissed for two bookable offences.

2010/11 SEASON

3rd January 2011 – Peterborough 4-1 Walsall – League One
Craig Mackail-Smith scored twice as promotion-chasing Peterborough came from behind to win. Alex Nicholls’ header gave the Saddlers an early lead, before Mackail-Smith struck either side of half-time to turn the match on its head. Late goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Ryan Bennett put the result beyond doubt – leaving Walsall bottom of League One and eight points from safety.
Saddlers team:Brain, Westlake, Lescott, Lancashire, Butler, Richards, Marshall, Gray, Jones (Paterson 84’), Nicholls, Reid (Macken 79’).
Subs not used: Bevan, McDonald, Smith, McGivern, Macken, Paterson, Grigg.


2nd November 2010 – Walsall 1-3 Peterborough – League One
Walsall stayed bottom of League One after suffering a third successive defeat against high-flying Peterborough. Two goals in three first-half minutes from Ryan Bennett and Arran Davies put Posh in command. Julian Gray’s 53rd minute header gave Walsall hope, only for Kevin Langmead to restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion moments later.
