SOUTHEND United manager, Phil Brown, is looking forward to coming up against The Saddlers in the first round of the Capital One Cup in August.“It’s another good challenge for us against a side from a higher division,” he told www.southendunited.co.uk. “If we have a similar pre-season to the one we did last year, we’ll have every chance.
“It’s an opportunity to go on a good Cup run and build up some confidence in the squad very early on in the season, so it’s a game we’ll be desperate to win.
“They are a good footballing side. I came up against them with Preston North End a couple of years ago and their philosophy won’t have changed.
“We know it will be a tough game against a good outfit, but we’ll be going into it with the belief, especially at home, we can win the game.”
