WELL-EARNED BREAK

2 January 2014

Saddlers recharge the batteries...

HAVING come through a busy festive schedule of four games in less than a fortnight, The Saddlers' players have the chance to recharge their batteries this weekend.

Our scheduled home game against Oldham Athletic has had to be put back ten days due to The Latics' involvement in the FA Cup, meaning that we have a rare free weekend.

"It will be a well-earned rest for the players," said manager, Dean Smith. "We're giving them a few days off in order to recharge their batteries before our preparation for the next game gets underway at the start of next week.

"As for myself, my wife would have liked to have gone away somewhere for the weekend, but I'll be out looking at future opponents."

Skipper, Andy Butler, intends to spend some quality time with his young family. "It's nice to have a bit of a break now," he added. "It's come at the right time for us after a busy run of matches.

"I'm looking forward to a bit of family time and relaxation before turning our thoughts to the challenge that lies ahead in the second half of the season."
