Youth team fall to Burton Albion...

THE SADDLERS' youth team went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burton Albion in the Midland Youth Cup quarter-final.

"It was a good, competitive game," said Academy Manager, Neil Woods. "There were spells when we were bright and inventive, but we never got hold of the game completely.

"Our wide players looked lively and caused problems but we struggled to control the game as we would like to.

"We managed to get into good areas but there was no end product.

"We fell behind to an unfortunate deflection during the second half but we continued to try and play the right way.

"The opposition goalkeeper made a few good saves as the game went on and in the end we failed to make the breakthrough."

WALSALL: Jones, Christopherou, Henry, Ashmore (Delaney), K. Rowley, Garner, McKenzie, Kinsealla, Bakayoko, Rush, Reid (Shakespeare). Subs not used: Probert, Lovett, L. Rowley.
