TEAM TALK v AFC BOURNEMOUTH, 29/9/2012

The thoughts of the gaffer...

WE GO into the game at Bournemouth knowing that it will be another tough challenge. They have invested heavily in their team recently and have secured some talented players.

We know that we will have to be at our best if we are to get anything out of the game, but we have a good set of lads here who are progressing nicely.

I want players challenging to get into the team and we’ve got that at the moment with plenty of competition for places, which can only bode well for us.

I know it’s a cliché, but we’re just taking each game as it comes. Yes, we’ve made a good start, but I want the lads to be focused.

We all look at the League table, but it means nothing at the moment. What we have to do is keep adding to our points tally and then see where it takes us.

Obviously it is nice that we are putting in the performances as well as getting results. The display against Preston last weekend was extremely well received and if we can maintain these standards, it will stand us in good stead.

The players are playing with smiles on their faces and there is plenty of belief amongst them. The spirit we have here is fantastic and we are consistently working hard to get better.

A lot of preparation goes on behind-the-scenes; Richard and I travelled to watch Carlisle for example in midweek.

We’re certainly putting in the ground-work and I am fortunate to be able to call upon a superb support staff.

It’s a big team effort and by that I mean players, staff and supporters.

I would like to thank those fans who will be making the long trip down to the south coast. We look forward to receiving your backing.
