GRAY BACK AMONGST THE GOALS

30 December 2013

Wide-man delighted to open scoring account...

JULIAN Gray notched his first goal of the season and his first in a Walsall shirt since the final day of the 2010/11 season as The Saddlers drew 2-2 at Gillingham.

The talented wide-man came off the bench and looked to have sealed a win with his strike in the last minute, however, our hosts were able to snatch an equaliser in stoppage time.

"We're disappointed to leave here without the three points," he admitted after the game. "I felt that we dominated the game and moved them about well.

"We created chances throughout and even after they equalised in injury time, we had a chance to snatch it. That said, they too could have nicked it in what was a frantic end but Richard O'Donnell saved us with a great save right at the finish.

"It was frustrating, but in the end we didn't lose and it's another point to our total."

"It was nice to come on and make an impact with the goal. Of course, I want to play as often as I can but the lads have been doing well so I've had to show patience and be ready to take my chance when it comes.

"If I can come on and add something, then I am happy to do that.

Gray returned to the club this season after a couple of years playing in Cyprus and penned an initial deal which runs until the end of January.

"I really enjoy it here," he added without hesitation. "This team is going places and I want to be part of it.

"Everything is done right and we have some extremely talented young players who play the game the correct way."
