Wide-man amongst the goals for sparkling Saddlers...

HAVING bagged a brace, including a sublime first goal, and weighed in with an assist for Tom Bradshaw’s strike, it was certainly a good day for Jordan Cook as we beat Barnsley 3-1 at the weekend.

The talented former Sunderland and Charlton Athletic man was in sparkling form as we came back from a goal down to beat The Tykes and move into the top half of the League One table.

“It was about time I chipped in with a couple of goals,” smiled the 24 year-old. “Saturday was my day with the goals, but it was a team effort out there and the lads displayed real character to get the win.

“My opening goal was one of the best I have ever scored, no question. I was running backwards when the ball came towards me from the corner and I just had to instinctively hit it.

“Thankfully it flew into the top corner. I’d like to say that I do that all the time in training, but I don’t!

“We’ve always had the belief that we are a good team and we’re steadily climbing up the table now. A couple more wins and we will be right up there in the play-off places.

“The Gaffer has good options and we’ve also got some talented young lads coming through like Rico [Henry], so we’re all very positive right now.

“We won’t get too ahead of ourselves, but there is definitely plenty for us to look forward to going into the New Year.”
