Rory Gaffney joined the Saddlers on loan from Salford City in August 2019.

The Irish forward started his career with Mervue United in the Irish First Division before signing for Limerick in 2011 where he scored 29 goals over a three year spell.

In November 2014, Gaffney signed for League Two side Cambridge United but he didn’t make his debut until September 2015.

The striker was on the move again in November 2015 as he joined Darrell Clarke’s Bristol Rovers on loan.

His impressive performances earned him a permanent move to the Memorial Stadium in January 2016 and he helped the Pirates earn promotion to League One the following May.

Gaffney remained at Rovers until July 2018, finishing up on 24 goals for the club, before he moved to Salford City on a permanent deal.

The striker scored 11 goals in the National League as the Ammies won promotion via the play-offs. Gaffney was then re-united with his former boss as he linked up with the Saddlers in August 2019 on a season-long loan.
