Towering shot-stopper Liam Roberts featured 39 times during the 2019/20 season.

He also made his landmark 100th appearance for the club in December 2019 against Macclesfield Town at the Banks's Stadium. 

Born in Walsall, the 24-year-old progressed through the club's youth ranks and made his senior debut in a 3-0 home defeat by Millwall in February 2016.

He was loaned out for experience, enjoying spells in non-league with Rushall Olympic, Rainworth MW, Southport, Gresley and Chester, where he kept seven clean sheets in 15 league outings.

Roberts started 2017/18 as understudy to Mark Gillespie but became first choice after the turn of the year, making 28 appearances during an impressive breakthrough season.

He was rewarded with the number one jersey and played 47 matches in total last term.
