Foundation host a number of activities on Poundland Bescot Stadium pitch!

17 May 2024

Following the end of the football season, we here at Walsall FC Foundation, are proud to support and facilitate multiple Play on the Pitch events for the local community.

Our mental health based football programme, ‘Beat the Block”, marked the beginning of our activities last Thursday.

Participants of Beat the Block attend every week to enjoy a one-hour football session run by our staff, before up to a 30-minute social in the community room. In this safe and friendly environment, players can chat to coaches, each other, and mental health professionals. We had a great game of football with one team proudly wearing our special Hayward Transport sponsored Walsall FC kit.

We’re happy to extend opportunities like these out to group wherever possible as added bonuses and hope the experiences make for lasting memories.

Later on in the day, our Talented & Gifted Development Squads joined us at the Stadium for their training sessions. The T&G programme consists of football sessions coached in an exclusive environment by professional coaches.

With proven pathways into the Walsall FC Academy, this is the ideal programme for young players to progress their football career. With our football season coming to a close, we were happy to treat a number of our squads to training sessions on the first team pitch.

To wrap up the day we were happy to host our annual Saddlers Experience which gives children the chance to participate in various fun games and activities led by Foundation coaches. It was great to welcome in all the young Walsall FC fans and seeing their faces light up as they walked out the player tunnel onto the official pitch. The participants got two full hours of football this time around while parents enjoyed the weather from the stands watching the activities. We hope everyone enjoyed the experience and would love to see you all back next year!

Furthermore, over the last few weeks we have also supported with a number of other organisations events such as Poundland and Midlands Co-operative. It’s been a pleasure as always to provide this opportunity to a number of children and adults across Walsall, many look forward to this day all year long and we can’t wait to do it again next year.
