Sadler discusses Morecambe clash

20 February 2024

Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler is keen to build momentum as his team prepares to face Morecambe at the Poundland Bescot Stadium this evening.

The Saddlers got back to winning ways with an excellent victory over high flying Mansfield Town on Saturday.

Sadler hopes his players can regroup and go again against the Shrimps, produce another memorable performance and continue building.

“We want that momentum and we want to take it into the next game,” Sadler commented.

“We know that they’re a really well organised team and they're a group of players that are in a good moment so we have to be right on top of it.

"We’ve had some great occasions here but for us it’s about recovery and to get back on it.”

The Saddlers were without Donervon Daniels at the weekend and also lost Priestley Farquharson, who was forced off with an injury at half-time.

Sadler will be hoping both players can be back available as soon as possible but he was unable to give a specific timeframe on when either could return to action.

“Donervon, we still need to find a clearer picture but hopefully it's on the shorter side of long but we’ll have to be on our toes for finding out as it goes on,” Sadler said.

“Priestley, we’ll check how that goes and see where we land with that. Fair play to everyone, we had it earlier in the season where we had a few out and the ones that played rose to it and they rose to it on Saturday.”
