Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has called on his team to believe in their quality as they prepare to take on Morecambe at the Poundland Bescot Stadium tomorrow night.
The Saddlers were left frustrated on Saturday as Gillingham came from behind to cancel out Isaac Hutchinson’s penalty.
Morecambe, buoyed by a fine victory over Crawley Town last time out, will arrive full of confidence but Sadler is keen to take the positives from Saturday’s performance in Kent into tomorrow night’s contest.
“We have to keep believing what a fantastic team we are and take that into Tuesday, that’s the next task so we have to recover,” Sadler said.
“Morecambe had a fantastic result on Saturday, they won 2-1 at Crawley, and they’re a team with a good manager, a way of playing and some good players.
“What is clear is that we go into a home game desperate to get over the line and get what we deserve from Saturday’s game in that game on Tuesday night.”
Sadler was frustrated that the Saddlers didn’t come away with three points against the Gills but felt his team showed their qualities.
“I thought we were absolutely brilliant,” he commented.
“From the very first minute of the game we were top, the only disappointment is that we concede the goal.
“Anyone who came to the game saw that we were the better team. I thought we silenced the crowd immediately and I think they got booed off at half time with how well we played.
“I thought we were great and showed what a good team we are, of course we’re disappointed we haven’t won the game but I keep saying it, we’re building towards a very good team in this division.
“We’re realising what a good team we are. It’s two points dropped but the signs are very encouraging.
“We’re a very good team, should have won the game – we’re disappointed with that however, the positives have to be how good we were and how we controlled the game.”
