Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler is looking for a front foot performance from his team when they take on Mansfield Town and admits they are keen to right the wrongs from last weekend’s defeat to Newport County.
The Saddlers are back at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday and head into tomorrow’s encounter on the back of Tuesday night’s draw with Crawley Town.
Sadler is looking forward to the match and playing in front of what is expected to be a large crowd.
He anticipates that the game will have an edge to it given Mansfield are also in fine form having won 9-2 in midweek.
“Mansfield are a very good team,” Sadler said.
“They’ve been up there throughout the whole season and I’ve watched them a few times live.
“They’re a good team, they’re pushed with a manager who knows exactly what he’s doing and they’re a group of experienced players that are in a fantastic moment, as they have been all season, so we’re going to have to be right on our metal but it’s one we’re looking forward to.
“There will be a big crowd and a big edge to the game and we want to put some of the wrongs right from last Saturday but most importantly we want to get on the front foot in this game and it’s one we’re looking forward to.”
The Saddlers will be aiming to return to winning ways after drawing three of their last four matches.
While the team are on a bit of a frustrating run at the moment, Sadler insists the they are continuing to build and that there is still plenty to play for in the final 16 matches.
“There always is (plenty to play for) and that won’t drop and the message on that will certainly not drop,” he explained.
“I’ve said it for long periods this season that we’re building at this football club and building towards days where we’re right in the mix of where we want to be and the whole group are fully on board with that process.
“The people we have here, the people that we want are the ones that bring that character, that atmosphere and that growth in us.”
