Walsall Women battle back twice to earn valuable point

12 October 2023

Walsall Women 2-2 Tamworth Women

Walsall Women twice came from behind to earn a draw against Tamworth Women in their last league outing on Sunday.

Visitors Tamworth opened the scoring after just 11 minutes and that is how it stayed until the half time interval.

Steve Guest’s team responded well and equalised 14 minutes into the second half thanks to Mia Fellows’ strike.

Parity didn’t last long though as Tamworth hit back just a minute later and re-took the lead.

The Saddlers kept pushing for a leveller and their persistence paid off in added time when Saanya Najib broke clear and kept her composure with a superb finish to rescue a point.

The result leaves Walsall Women sixth in the table with seven points from their first four games.

They do have a game in hand on Tamworth who sit in fifth, also on seven points.

Attention now turns to this Sunday’s match at home to Coventry City at Dales Lane, Rushall.

Kick-off is at 2pm.

Admission is £2 for Adults and £1 for Concessions.

A reminder that Walsall Season Ticket holders and Members can attend all Walsall Women home games for free if they show their Season Ticket or Membership card.
