Pre-season update on the Supporters Club

25 July 2023

Detailed plans are nearing completion for the re-opening of the supporters club at Poundland Bescot Stadium.

In partnership with Glancy Nicholls Architects, design work for the project has been completed, and the club is in the process of finalising the project timeline for the renovation works. Barring any unforeseen delays, there will be a grand re-opening partway through the 2023-24 season.

The primary vision for the space is to enhance the matchday experience for WFC supporters.  The main hall is being completely renovated and will serve as an open gathering area on matchdays, where Walsall FC supporters can gather before and after a match, take in other events and football highlights on screens mounted throughout the space, and enjoy community, food, and great beer – including from our friends and sponsors at NoFo Brew Co.

On matchdays, admittance to this area will be free to Club Members, with a small entrance fee charged to non-members. The building will also include a lounge area which will allow the club to provide another unique hospitality offering to club sponsors.

During weekdays, we intend to utilise the building as an additional exhibition space for our conferences and events business, with Club Members having priority booking rights if they desire to utilise the space for their personal or business event.

Throughout the week in the evenings, the building will be open to the public on select nights, serving drink, food, and providing a source of community and entertainment. In the coming months, as the physical renovation takes place, we look forward to engaging with our supporters and our town in order to co-create the best possible vision for what the weeknight venue can look like. We will be working to determine what opportunities we can best use to gather our community, with evenings themed around interactive events, popular or unique sporting events shown on the screens, live artist performances, and more.

“I am pleased with the progress that has been made by our project team,” said Co-Chairman Ben Boycott.

“We’re committed to delivering better and better matchday experiences over time to our supporters, and this project is one part of that.

"We will continue to provide updates as the timeline for this re-opening is finalised. We look forward to bringing this venue back to our town, in a way that we hope can bring joy and build community.”
