Momentum is key for Owen Evans

31 January 2023

Walsall goalkeeper Owen Evans is keen to take positive momentum into tonight’s match against Salford City and a busy run of games in Sky Bet League Two.

Attention quickly turns back to the league following Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Premier League side Leicester City as the Saddlers will be aiming to close in on the play-off positions in their first league outing since January 14th.

Evans is eager to return to league action and after an encouraging performance against the former Premier League champions, he keen to take that positivity into tonight’s encounter.

“It’s all about momentum,” he said.

“Even though it’s a loss (on Saturday), we can take a lot of positives. Our league form has been good so hopefully we can start the games back up again after a couple of weeks off and really kick on now.”

It took a deflected strike to beat the Saddlers at the weekend and the 26-year-old praised his defence and new boy Joe Low who impressed on his first start.

“He’s a quality player,” Evans commented.

“He’s come in since day one and he’s brought his standards in from Bristol and he’s lifted a few lads as well.

“He’s a big boy, he’s got a few lads in the gym but he brings intensity and good quality in training. He was outstanding in that back four.

“I was really proud of the lads, my defence all season have been rock solid and they make my job a lot easier for me, so it’s been quality.”
