A closer look at Wrexham v Walsall

The Saddlers travel to North Wales this evening to take on newly promoted Wrexham AFC.

Walsall will be looking to build on Saturday's victory over Stockport County while the hosts will be looking to pick up their first win of the 2023/24 campaign. 

Here is more information and a closer look at tonight's encounter.

FROM THE DUGOUTS

Mat Sadler: “It’s another League Two game where we'll need to do the basics extremely well and it will be a really tough game for us to try and get three points from but we’ll go there and try and give it our best.”

TEAM NEWS

Mat Sadler confirmed that Brandon Comley missed Saturday’s match against Stockport County through an ankle injury.

Priestley Farquharson is working his way back from injury while Tom Knowles also missed Saturday’s victory.

As for Wrexham, Paul Mullin has been sidelined after suffering a punctured lung and four cracked ribs in pre-season.

FAMILIAR FACES

Wrexham have two former Saddlers currently in their ranks.

Winger Anthony Forde enjoyed a two-year spell at the Poundland Bescot Stadium between 2014 and 2016.

He played 97 times and netted 10 goals.

Defender Eoghan O’Connell had a loan spell at Walsall in the 2016-17 season. He made 17 appearances, scoring once for the Saddlers.
