Saddlers welcome Kaleidoscope for matchday takeover

4 April 2023

Walsall Football Club are delighted to be welcoming charity partners Kaleidoscope Plus Group to our match against Carlisle United on Monday 10th April.

The Midlands based charity helps thousands of people across the UK each year and offers a range of services for people in need, struggling with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s volunteers will be at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Monday 10 April during Walsall’s League Two clash with Carlisle United, and the charity have teamed up with the Saddlers to offer a special raffle with the lucky winner having the chance to win tickets for the Hayward’s Hottest Seat in the House for the final home game of the season.

You can also enter that raffle here

All money raised from the unique raffle is being used to provide vital support for the people who need it most.

Hayward Transport currently occupy the box but are keen to see deserving members of the community enjoy the experience of a matchday from the View Box – the hottest seat in the house and this provides the lucky winner to enjoy the matchday experience whilst raising valuable funds for the Midlands based charity.

Monica Shafaq, CEO of The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, said: “We are thrilled to be joining our friends at Walsall FC at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Monday. The support we receive from the club is truly fantastic and we are so grateful of that.

“Our ethos has always been to help people feel good whether that be through the support they receive or the experience they have when fundraising or volunteering for us, so to have this takeover in the year we celebrate our 50th anniversary is fantastic, and I’m so excited that we can offer such a great prize to the raffle winner.

“The money raised will enable our team to continue promoting positive health and wellbeing, challenging the stigma that surrounds mental health, and creating inclusive communities and help us to provide life-changing services for those who are in need.”

Kaleidoscope Plus Group, who were announced as an official charity partner of Walsall FC for the 2022/23 season, provide crucial mental health support services to the community and have five decades of experience in providing mental health support to thousands of people across the UK.

Saddlers captain, Donervon Daniels was announced in January as one of the charity's newest ambassadors.

Since becoming captain, the 29-year-old has gone from strength to strength and enjoys his leadership role within in the dressing room and relishes supporting local communities and initiatives.

Known as the ‘big brother’ of the dressing room, Donervon was keen to support the charity in their recent Wembley to Qatar challenge, encouraging fellow players and club staff alike to get involved in the December challenge and is keen advocate of the work done by the charity.

On his appointment Donervon added: “I’m delighted to become an ambassador for the Kaleidoscope Plus Group. The work that they do to support people to improve their mental health and wellbeing when they need it most is invaluable.

“Mental health is a big topic in our house. Mental health problems exist in our lives, families, workplaces, and communities, impacting everyone. We need to continue the conversation around mental health and remove the stigma that surrounds it. I cannot wait to learn from the team at Kaleidoscope Plus Group and I’m looking forward to offering my support to the charity as much as I can.”

Head of Commercial and Retail at Walsall Football Club, Adam Brearley said: “We are delighted to welcome Kaleidoscope Plus Group to the Poundland Bescot Stadium for their charity match day takeover.

"Walsall Football Club have been a dedicated supporter of the work done by everyone at KPG. We hope to play our part once again during the match day takeover to raise vital funds for such a fantastic local charity.”
