Knowles eager to open his account

2 September 2022

Walsall attacker Tom Knowles is working hard as he aims to open his account for the Saddlers.

The 23-year-old joined from National League side Yeovil Town back in August and has worked his way into the team and started the last two league matches.

Knowles is frustrated not to have scored his first Walsall goal but he does have two assists to his name so far and is keen to regularly contribute.

“As an attacker, something I pride myself on is goal contributions whether that’s assisting or scoring,” he said.

“I think last weekend got under my skin a little because I really want that first goal because after I get one, hopefully a lot more will come.

“I will continue to work hard and contribute to the team however I can but getting that first goal and more to follow will be good.

“Last weekend I had a couple of chances and if I score them, we win the game so that was frustrating but there are those fine margins and hopefully we’ll keep working hard and luck will come our side and we’ll nick a late winner.”

The Saddlers will be looking to return to winning ways but face a tough challenge away at Bradford City in front of a bumper crowd tomorrow.

Knowles is excited about visiting Utilita Energy Stadium and is looking forward to a swift return to action.

“Games are the most important thing and it’s what we all look forward to,” Knowles commented.

“We rest and recover properly but we all just love playing games.

“We’ll go there, no matter how many people it’s in front of and relish this opportunity to go out and showcase what we can do in front of a large crowd.

“Hopefully we’ll bring three points back for the travelling fans and they’ll enjoy their day out.”
