International Saddlers: Kleberton Felix

19 October 2022

In the first of our new International Saddlers series, we caught up with Kleberton Felix to discuss his love affair with Walsall Football Club.

Kleberton, from Brazil, has followed Walsall for a number of years and is the founder of the Walsall FC Brazil Twitter account.

We found out more about how he started following the Saddlers and his hopes of one day visiting the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Kleberton, thank you so much for speaking to us. Firstly, how did you become a Walsall fan?

“I started playing with Walsall on the internet. I’m from a city called Jales in Sao Paulo and my team in Jales – Jalesense have a very similar badge to the club badge of Walsall so that’s what got my attention. I started feeling a lot for the club and Jales is a similar size town to Walsall so there are a lot of similarities between the two.”

You created the Walsall FC Brazil account on social media and have interacted with Walsall fans in the UK. What inspired you to set up the account?

“I use Twitter a lot and there are a lot of English supporting football fans in Brazil who run accounts for Brazilian fans. I saw there was no Walsall account passing information about Walsall to Brazilian fans so I created the Walsall FC Brazil account on Twitter and Facebook four years ago.”

Have you found there are now more Walsall fans in Brazil as a result?

“I’m finding there are a lot of people who know a bit about the Club, seeing it on Twitter, getting more information about it and falling in love with the Club, so it’s growing. We’re getting there so hopefully one day we will have the supporters club in Brazil and we can all come and watch a game together soon.”

That leads us on to our next question, is the dream to come over to England and see the Saddlers live?

“I am now only supporting Walsall, I don’t even watch Brazilian football anymore so to come over to watch Walsall would be everything, it’s a dream of mine.”

Have you got anything planned yet?

“I am trying to arrange something; I would love to come very soon but nothing is planned yet.”

How good is it that we have the iFollow service where you can watch every game live from Brazil and do you have to get up really early to watch our games?

“It’s not too bad because for 3pm kick-offs there’s a four-hour difference so it’s an 11am kick-off. In the winter, it’s only a three-hour difference so it’s a Midday kick-off, so it’s a good time. It means everything to me to see Walsall every week. They’re the only team I follow, I don’t care about Brazilian football. It’s quite easy to watch the games on iFollow, I watch the games every Saturday and in midweek.”

What have you made of the team so far this season and how do you see the rest of the season going?

“I was very excited at the start of the season, especially after we won our first three matches. Since then, it’s gone a little bit down but the team is starting to play well again and I am confident about the rest of the season.”
