White: Saddlers in confident mood

11 November 2022

Walsall defender Hayden White says the team are in a confident mood ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Carlisle United.

The Saddlers have won their last three matches in all competitions and will be looking to make it back-to-back victories on the road for the first time under Michael Flynn.

White feels the squad are in a buoyant mood and is looking forward to tomorrow’s trip to Carlisle, who have made a strong start to the season.

“I think they’ve had an upturn in results but we’re full of confidence as well,” White said.

“We’ve just won our last away game at a team from a higher league so we need to go there full of confidence and hopefully we can pick up a very good result.

“We’ve got a very good team dynamic here. Everyone’s enjoying themselves, everyone’s happy to come in everyday and we’re all enjoying it.”

White has been in good form and has featured 21 times so far this campaign.

He also scored his first Saddlers goal against Rochdale at the end of October and was pleased to get off the mark.

“I was delighted with it,” White commented.

“I think it’s been a long time coming, I think I should have had one the week before but I was over the moon with it.

“We’ve been working on it in training, Mat’s always having conversations with me and telling me that I need to find myself up that end a bit more. Luckily, when Jonno had his shot, it broke to me and I’ve not thought twice.

“With a lot of our set pieces, I’ve been the one who stays back but with Benno (Liam Bennett) coming in, we’ve kind of switched roles so I’ve found myself up that end a bit more.”
