Walsall Football Club were saddened to learn of the passing of lifetime supporter John Sylvester.
John, who had supported the Saddlers for seventy years, passed away suddenly on Monday 7th November, with his three sons Ian, Dave and Mark, all with him.
John, whose wife Val, passed away last year, had been happily married for sixty years and he was a real family man.
During the early eighties he was Chairman of Walsall Wood Football Club, rescuing them from the doldrums, and he was a larger than life character.
John watched Walsall home games from Box 2, with his son Mark, and close friend Steve Josebury, who always went out of his way to make sure John was able to get to the games.
His highlight over his seventy years of watching the Saddlers was seeing his beloved team win promotion at the Millennium Stadium.
Our thoughts at this sad time are with John`s family, especially sons Ian, Dave and Mark.
