Comley anticipates entertaining game against Crawley

18 November 2022

Brandon Comley anticipates an entertaining encounter when his side hosts Crawley Town on Saturday.

The Saddlers will go into the game with plenty of confidence, having lost just one of their last eight league games.

However, the visitors will prove to be a tough test as they are unbeaten in their last five league games, including a 1-0 victory against Barrow in their last match.

When asked if he believes the game will be entertaining, Comley said: “Of course.

“We know they’ve been doing well recently. It’s a game you relish and look to be involved in, hopefully we put an end to their run and can continue ours.

"The game against Wycombe was a great advertisement of our abilities against a team that is supposedly better than us, it showed we can mix up our play styles when needed.

“We just have to keep going game by game and focus on the task at hand, continue to pick up points away and win our home games.

“If we continue pushing and picking up points, I believe with the squad we have and the players coming back, that we have a big chance of doing something this year."

Comley, who celebrates his birthday today, admits the home fans can be the catalyst behind another strong performance when his side faces Crawley on Saturday.

“They’re like a twelfth man,” he said.

“They always give us a boost. Playing home games gives us an advantage and hopefully we can capitalise on that with another win.

“When there’s a buzz around the ground the camp is a lot better, and everything runs smoother.

"Everyone wants to be around a team doing well. Hopefully we can continue pushing from where we are.”

The 27-year-old was full of praise for teammates Isaac Hutchinson and Jacob Maddox, who have both delighted him recently by producing consistently inspired performances.

“Over the last month he’s (Isaac Hutchinson) been applying himself to his craft and now he’s reaping the rewards," he commented.

"He has been putting in a lot of work and I’m happy for him.

“He is a player who has a lot of ability, he can definitely push on. It’s good to see him doing well because it helps me out and also the team.

“Another player doing well is Jacob Maddox, he’s been smashing it recently. Those two have been really shining for us and I’m glad because they have been working so hard.”
