Emmanuel Osadebe looking to build on positive week when the Saddlers take on Barrow

3 March 2022

Saddlers midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe is hoping to build on Tuesday’s draw against promotion chasing Northampton Town when the team take on Barrow on Saturday afternoon.

Osadebe, who has been converted into a right-wing back since the arrival of Head Coach, believes that the fours points picked up from the last two games is a good platform to build on ahead of the trip to Holker Street and he is hoping to pick up another positive result at the weekend.

“I thought overall it could have been better,” he began.

“In the first half I thought we were a bit slow to react to second balls, we were sloppy with our passing and we didn’t really stick to our game plan but in the second half I thought we were brilliant.

“I thought we could have nicked it at the end, we deserved it from our second half performance but it is a good point to build on and it’s onto the next one now.

“The Head Coach has come in and he has made the way he wants us to play known and we have stuck to the game plan well in the last two games.

“It’s a good four points to build on and it’s about going into the next game and hopefully getting the three points.”

Having played the last two games against Hartlepool United and Northampton as a wing-back, Osadebe insists he is focused on getting on with things and believes that him playing there has brought a different dynamic to the overall look of the team.

“It is a position that I have got to do a job in,” he continued.

“I understand the position quite well and I don’t mind playing there, I just get on with the game and do what I have to do.

“I think it has brought us a different dynamic to our game as we get the ball out wide to have one-v-ones and having the strikers play off that and it has paid off for us to be fair with the points that we have picked up and we just want to keep doing the same.

“I am different from Ty (Shade) who is on the other side, he doesn’t mind the one-v-ones.

“I don’t mind them either but I would rather come inside and play off the strikers and link-up with them and it is working for me to be fair with the assist I got on Saturday and with playing well.

“I want to keep pushing on and keep helping the team.”
