Taylor Allen joins Walsall

20 June 2022

Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Taylor Allen on a one-year contract.

The midfielder, who can also play wing-back, will officially join on July 1st upon the expiry of his contract at Forest Green Rovers.

The 21-year-old, who was born in Walsall, began his career at Romulus before joining Nuneaton Borough in January 2019.

Whilst at Nuneaton, he also had a trial with Premier League club Leicester City.

His impressive displays at Liberty Way caught the eye of Forest Green who snapped him up in April 2019 ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

He scored the winner on his debut for Rovers in a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic in August 2019.

During his time at Forest Green, he played as a forward before making the switch to a midfield role.

He also enjoyed loan spells at National League North sides Hereford, Gloucester City and Leamington.

Allen is excited by his new challenge with the Saddlers and pleased to get the move over the line.

“I’m buzzing and really happy to get it done,” Allen said.

“Coming away from Forest Green going into the new season, I’m really looking forward to it.

“I just want to kick on and really help this team move forward, which I feel Walsall can do as a club - kick on and get back to where they need to be so hopefully, I can come in this year and help that.

“I was born in Walsall and live round the area so I know what Walsall means to people, I know some fans and I know the passion that’s in the Club and I’m buzzing to be here.”

Michael Flynn feels Allen has a lot of good qualities and will bring a lot to the team.

“He’s young, hungry, six-foot-one, left-footed and he can play in midfield or wing-back,” he added.

“He’s local and fits all the attributes that we’re looking for, he’s very good on the ball technically.

“Taylor’s coming in with the right attitude and wants to progress his career with us.”
