Shade keen to continue learning

21 January 2022

Walsall winger Tyrese Shade is looking to build and continue learning ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

The 21-year-old made his first start since November on Saturday against Mansfield Town.

Shade feels he has learnt a lot since arriving in the summer. He is keen to learn more and is looking to push on after he was restored to the starting XI last week.

“I was really happy to be back in the team last week,” he said.

“I want to play as much football as I can and I know that my role in the team is to be effective when I am in it.

“I am trying to build on that now the gaffer has put me back in the team so hopefully the more games that I can play, the more I get out of it.

“I am enjoying it here, it is a really good experience for me.

"This is my first loan spell so with every game comes new challenges but this loan is all about gaining experience and I am more than happy here at Walsall.

“I have learnt a lot so far since I’ve been here and I am continuing to learn as well. I am still a young lad; I am only 21 so I still definitely have a lot to learn on and off the pitch and I just feel like this is a good place for me to gain that experience.”

Shade will be hoping to be involved again when the Saddlers take on Exeter City tomorrow afternoon.

The Saddlers have had a good week of preparation ahead of the game and Shade is under no illusions about the threat Exeter pose.

“They are a really good team,” he said.

“They like to play on the counter attack. They play with wing-backs which is different to what we usually face but they are a good team that we have analysed.

“On the day of the game, it will just come down to how prepared we are and I think that we have had a very good week going into the game.”
