Donervon Daniels joins the Saddlers

24 January 2022

Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Donervon Daniels on a permanent contract until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has spent the last 18 months at League One side Crewe Alexandra and made 31 appearances for the Railwaymen.

Daniels began his career at West Bromwich Albion. He enjoyed loan spells Tranmere Rovers, Gillingham, Blackpool, Aberdeen.

He then moved to Wigan Athletic on a permanent contract in 2015 and was part of the team that won League One in 2015-16 season.

An injury disrupted the 2016-17 season before he joined Rochdale on loan for the 2017-18 season.

In 2018, he joined Blackpool where he spent a season before he joined Luton Town in the Championship a year later.

A loan spell at Doncaster Rovers followed before he made the switch to Crewe in the summer of 2020.

On joining Walsall, Daniels said: “I’m really happy to finally get the deal done and I’m delighted to get it over the line.

“I want to come in and play games and I see it as a real opportunity to get games under my belt and help Walsall have a solid end to the season.

“I have really strong leadership qualities. The way I play on the ball, I like to think I’m a really good ball carrier, good passer of the ball and I like to control the team.

"I feel like I can bring a whole host of qualities to the squad and the dressing room. I just want to get in and help the boys and help myself achieve.”

The transfer is subject to EFL ratification.
