Wilkinson nominated for January Goal of the Month award

10 February 2022

Walsall striker Conor Wilkinson has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two January Goal of the Month award.

The 27-year-old's dramatic late equaliser against Newport County on New Year's Day is up for the award.

Details on the three nominated goals are:

Conor Wilkinson – WALSALL v Newport County – 1st January

Deep into injury-time, Wilkinson had no time to lose. Three juggling touches hooked the ball deftly away from a defender and an instant right-foot volley secured a 95th-minute equaliser.

Elliott Nevitt – TRANMERE ROVERS v Scunthorpe United – 8th January

Timing a volley as the ball takes an age to drop is an art form which Nevitt has clearly perfected. He waited just long enough to send a perfectly placed shot into the top corner.

Nicky Featherstone – HARTLEPOOL UNITED v Stevenage – 22nd January

The 33-year-old Featherstone had managed just 18 goals in 426 previous league games, yet you wouldn’t know it from this aestheticallv beguiling strike from the edge of the area.

VOTING IS OPEN FROM 10AM TOMORROW ON THE EFL’S OFFICIAL TWITTER ACCOUNTS VOTING CLOSES ON MONDAY 14 FEBRUARY.
