Walsall winger Brendan Kiernan believes finding rhythm and momentum is key to regaining form.
The Saddlers will be looking to put a disappointing January behind them and start February in a positive way.
Kiernan stressed the importance of working hard and sticking together in their quest to find form.
“It’s all about momentum in football,” he said.
“There are sometimes when you are in a bit of a sticky patch but when you find that momentum, when it comes everything becomes that little bit easier.
“It’s about pushing through bits like this and finding that momentum again, finding that rhythm and I think things then start to flow quite nicely.
“In this tough bit is where we have to come together, stick together, work hard and then the results will come.
“Momentum, when it does come, everyone has seen so far this season that we can play some good football. It’s about just waiting for that tide to turn again and when it isn’t going so well, that’s when you do really pull together and we can all see in training that that is what we have been doing.”
The Saddlers take on fifth place Northampton Town at the Banks’s Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
Kiernan insists the Saddlers will need to put in the hard yards to get a result and is expecting a stern test against the Cobblers.
“We know that Northampton have got a good side from when we played them earlier on in the season,” he commented.
“I am expecting them to come out all guns blazing but we will be well prepared for whatever they bring to us this weekend.
“You can only show what you’re going to do with your actions, with putting in the hard yards and with giving what you have got.
“That is what we are going to set out to do and we are doing it, it’s just about making sure that crosses over into match days where everyone can see that and we are getting a result at the end of it.
"It’s all about doing the work but then getting the result as well.”
