Flynn keen to see his side show a positive reaction following defeat against Swindon

23 February 2022

Saddlers Head Coach Michael Flynn is expecting his side to show a positive reaction on Saturday when his side take on Hartlepool United following Tuesday night’s disappointing defeat against Swindon Town.

Flynn saw his side fall to an emphatic 5-0 defeat on Tuesday against the Robins in what he has brandished a ‘disappointing performance’ but he is now keen to see his side put that behind them now and has assured fans that he will be doing everything he can to make sure things move in the right direction.

“It’s a disappointing performance,” said Flynn. “I thought for the first half an hour we looked bright and we were on the front foot but the goals we conceded tonight weren’t good enough.

“We have spoken to the players in the dressing room and they know that that is the polar opposite to what we did on Saturday against Forest Green.

“The time that we conceded the second goal didn’t help us.

“There are a lot of things that we need to work on which I said after Saturday as well, there’s things that we need to work on but we need to have game management, especially away from home, we need to stay in the game.

“In the second half tonight I thought we were really poor.

“The team are on the back of two fantastic results against first and second in the league and we have now got to have a reaction on Saturday.

“One thing that my teams have always done after a defeat is that we have had a positive reaction and I will be hoping for that on the weekend.

“Thank you to the fans. They kept supporting us all the way. It’s a disappointing night and there are going to be ups and downs but get behind us, keep getting behind us and I will make sure that we get this going.”
