Taylor Allen proud to represent his local club

26 August 2022

Walsall wing-back Taylor Allen is thoroughly enjoying representing his hometown football club.

The 21-year-old joined in the Saddlers from Forest Green Rovers in the summer and has made an impressive start to life at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Allen feels pride when he pulls on a Saddlers shirt and is enjoying playing for his local club.

“I’m loving it,” Allen said.

“I’m a local lad, back in my hometown and seeing family more often. I feel comfortable being around the club and being around the town. I’m really enjoying my time here and long may it continue.

“It feels special. I was here when I was younger, around six or seven years old and it was the first team I started my football at.

“I have a lot of people who look out for Walsall, it’s good to be here and putting the shirt on and putting in good performances for the team.”

The Saddlers are back in action tomorrow as Grimsby Town visit the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Michael Flynn’s side will be looking to return to winning ways and improve on what Allen feels has been a decent start to the season but is under no illusions that the Mariners will provide a difficult challenge.

“Every game in this league can be a tough game, anyone can beat anyone,” Allen commented.

“We prepare for that and we know Grimsby will be a tough game, they obviously did well last season and we’re all looking forward to it and want to try and bounce back from last week and take the point and make it into three at home.

“We set ourselves targets and we want to go out and win every game. We’ve had an alright start and I think on Saturday we can improve on what we’ve done.

“The game against Charlton, it was a good performance so hopefully we can take that into the game on Saturday, I think we’ll be OK.”
