Reserves suffer heavy defeat at Bolton

12 April 2022

Bolton Wanderers 5-1 Walsall

A young Walsall side fell to defeat away at Bolton Wanderers in the Central League.

The hosts raced into an early two-goal lead when Adam Senior converted two penalties after eight minutes.

Sam Olawumi added a third on 16 minutes after he latched onto a poor clearance.

The Saddlers gave themselves hope on the stroke of half-time a shot from Trialist bounced off the post and hit the unfortunate Senior and into the net.

Bolton regrouped from that and restored their three-goal advantage early in the second half when Mitchell Henry netted from close range within a minute of the restart.

Four minutes later, Walsall were reduced to 10-men when Josh Simcox received a second yellow card and was sent off.

Lucas Edwards had a decent chance for the Saddlers but he sliced his shot wide as the Saddlers kept plugging away.

Bolton put the icing on the cake with seven minutes to go when Lamine Toure powered in a header to round off the scoring.
