PRE MATCH | Shade looking to show confidence

17 September 2021

Walsall winger Tyrese Shade hopes the team can show their confidence when they travel to Rodney Parade tomorrow.

The Saddlers will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five in all competitions and build on last weekend’s league victory over Mansfield Town.

Shade insists the players are ready for the test as they look to return with three points.

“Our game plan every game is to go out there and win,” Shade said.

“Hopefully being unbeaten for four games on the bounce shows how confident the boys are and hopefully we can implement our plan at the weekend.

“I played against Newport when I was at Leicester last season and I know that they are a tough team, they put up a fight but as a team we are more than prepared for the challenge so all I say is bring it on.”

Shade has featured in each of the last three matches after returning from a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old, on loan from Leicester City, has enjoyed the step up from Under 23s football and feels he’s settled in well at the Banks’s Stadium.

“I have found life here good,” he commented.

“It is a different challenge coming into a men’s league and a men’s facility but I have found it good. The boys welcomed me as soon as I stepped in as one of their own and it’s like I am one of their own so it has been good.

“I like to play every game; I like to show fans and my team mates what I can offer to the team so playing as much as possible is good and I hope that I can just keep improving as each game goes by.

“I feel really good now. I had previous trouble with hamstring injuries but now I am back it is just about how we manage it. It’s always good to come back in because you get that feeling of playing every game again.”
