Walsall midfielder Sam Perry has called on the Saddlers to live up to the task as they prepare to take on Exeter City tomorrow afternoon.
The Grecians are currently sixth in Sky Bet League and are unbeaten at St James’ Park in the league this season.
The Saddlers are unbeaten in their last four against Exeter but Perry insists records are irrelevant on the day and is expecting a difficult game.
“It’s always a tough game against Exeter,” Perry said.
“We’re expecting long balls, they may play a different formation – we don’t know yet but we just have to live up to the task of what they bring and go there to try and get three points.
“Everything goes out the window, it’s about us on the pitch and the players on the pitch. We need to go there and perform.
“It’s massive for all the fans travelling on Saturday. We can’t thank you enough for your support throughout the season. It gets us going before the game and after the game clapping us off the pitch.”
Perry made his first start since mid-August against Bristol Rovers and has had to be patient for his opportunity.
He is still keen to learn and do extra work to earn and keep his place in the team.
“I’m still young, I don’t expect to be in the team every week but that’s my aim,” he explained.
“When I’m not in the team I work hard on the training pitch, doing extras and working on things that I need to improve on.
“Ever since we came back for pre-season it’s been great. All the lads get on, we’re all creating strong bonds and hopefully we can put it out on the pitch on Saturday and getting those three points.”
