Osadebe aiming to kick on after opening his account for the season

7 October 2021

Walsall midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe is aiming to kick on another gear after scoring his first goal of the season.

The 25-year-old netted his fourth goal for the club in Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy tie against Northampton Town on Tuesday.

Osadebe has been working hard to open his account for the new campaign and hopes he can really kickstart his season after getting off the mark.

“It’s something that I’ve really needed,” he said.

“I’ve been working on it in training just to link up with Brendan, the wingers, the strikers and getting in behind to try and get on the scoresheet.

“I’m happy I’ve done it and hopefully I can kick on from here.

“I always felt if I get one, I’ll keep going and that’s the mindset and that’s what I’m working at.”

The Saddlers followed up Saturday’s draw with Exeter City by adding two points to their total in the Papa John’s Trophy after beating Northampton on penalties.

Osadebe is keen to see the Saddlers go one better and develop a winning mentality as they aim to get back to winning ways in Sky Bet League Two this weekend.

“It’s all about progressing and winning games,” he commented.

“At the weekend we felt we shouldn’t have drawn that game; we should have won but we didn’t so we just want to get back to winning ways and have that winning mentality.

“The confidence is there and we want to try and take that into Salford on Saturday.”

Salford City visit the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday and Saddlers season ticket holder can bring a friend for a fiver.
