Walsall winger Tyrese Shade was delighted to score the winning goal against Sutton United on Saturday.
The 21-year-old scored his second of the campaign with a clever free-kick that was enough to see the Saddlers collect three points and stretch their unbeaten run to seven.
Shade was pleased to see his free-kick hit the back of the net and add to his goal tally.
“I’m a player who likes to score goals,” Shade said.
“I haven’t got as many as I wanted this season so when I saw that go in, I was well happy.
“Normally the boys want me to smash it but I saw the wall and I was always going to bend it round.
“I like to take a few in training, I normally smash it far keeper’s side but I wrapped it round the wall.”
Victory at Gander Green Lane completed an unbeaten October for Matt Taylor’s side.
Shade believes the team are starting to show their quality and felt they got their rewards against Sutton for the way they dug deep to get over the line after the hosts applied late pressure.
“I’m ecstatic because we’ve narrowly been missing out on the three points but every game we’ve been trying to build and I’m glad we came away with that,” he commented.
“They’re a team that like to put it in our box and fight but we were very solid. I applaud the boys, the defence especially because anything that came their way was cleared so I’m really happy.
“We know how good we are and it’s just starting to show so hopefully we can keep on climbing and finish strong come the end of the year.”
Attention now turns to the first round of the Emirates FA Cup as the Saddlers travel to King’s Lynn Town.
