Double swoop for Liam Kinsella as end of season awards are announced

12 May 2021

Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella has been named both the Supporter’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.

The midfielder has featured 46 times in all competitions during the 2020/21 season and stood out for his consistent, hardworking and battling displays.

Fellow academy graduate Sam Perry picked up the Young Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old was handed his league debut in February and has excelled in the Saddlers midfield. He also opened his account in professional football with a stunning goal against Bolton Wanderers.

We would like to thank Walsall Supporters Trust for organising the poll and Co-operative Travel for their sponsorship and donation of a £200 voucher for the Player of the Year and a £100 voucher for the Young Player of the Year.

Emmanuel Osadebe’s sensational strike against Tranmere Rovers in April was voted as our Goal of the Season by the fans.

Elsewhere, James Clarke won the Community Player of the Year award while Luke Zona was named as Apprentice of the Year.

We also have eight winners for this year’s Long Service Award. They are Head Groundsman Paul Mason, Club Accountant Michelle Draisey, Ian Wood, Phil Baker, Phil Cotterill, Tony Bailey, Eddie Padmore and Cliff Jones. We would like to say a special thank you to them all for their outstanding service and dedication to the club over so many years.

Finally, for this year’s Fan of the Season award, we would like to dedicate it to every supporter who left their season ticket money in the club.
