Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce that defenders Danny Coogan and Joe Foulkes have today put pen-to-paper on their first professional contracts.
Coogan, 19, and Foulkes, who celebrates his 18th birthday today, are both yet to make a first team appearance for the Saddlers but the latter has put in a number of eye catching performances for the Under 18s.
The pair have both expressed their delight at signing their first pro-contract with the club and they’re now both looking forward beginning pre-season training and kicking on under Head Coach Matt Taylor.
“I’m really excited, I’m really happy and I can’t wait to kick on now,” said Coogan. “I’m really excited to work with the Head Coach.
“I’m a powerful player, I’m quick and I’m good on the ball. I have plenty of desire and I will always put 110% into every game and into everything I do. I think my desire is the best part of my game.”
Foulkes was also proud to have earned his first professional deal.
"This is a big accomplishment for me," said Foulkes. "I have been working so hard over the last 10 years or so at the club to maximise my chances of signing a pro contract and I am over the moon.
"I have got a great relationship with a lot of the lads who are at the training ground and I am really good mates with them and they have all made me feel really welcome as a young player so to spent a better amount of time with them up there would be great."
Coogan has signed a short-term contract with the club, whilst Foulkes has signed a one-year deal.
