Walsall Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Brendan Kiernan on a two-year contract.
The winger will officially join the Saddlers on July 1st upon the expiry of his contract from Harrogate Town.
Kiernan has spent the last two seasons at Wetherby Road having joined in 2019. He scored seven goals in his first season which helped Harrogate to a second-place finish in the National League before they went on to secure promotion to the EFL.
Following promotion, the 28-year-old went on to play 35 times last season, scoring six goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick in a thrilling 5-4 victory over Cambridge United back in April.
Prior to his move to Harrogate, Kiernan played a key role in helping Welling United reach the 2018-19 National League South play-off final.
He also reached the National League South play-offs with Hampton & Richmond both in 2017 and 2018.
Kiernan has also represented AFC Wimbledon, Braintree Town, Bromley, Staines Town, Ebbsfleet United, Lingfield and Hayes & Yeading.
The winger is excited by the challenge and can’t wait to linking up with his teammates.
“I’m looking forward to joining the club and I’m excited about being here,” Kiernan said.
“I can’t wait to meet the boys and it was great to meet the Head Coach as well.
“I’m looking to bring energy, hard work, chip in with some goals and create chances for the team.”
Saddlers Head Coach Matthew Taylor is pleased with his latest acquisition.
“Brendan is an exciting player who we are extremely happy to have at the football club with us,” he said.
“He’s somebody I feel we can utilise his strengths but also add to that.
“He’s desperate to succeed and as with all of our previous signings, his ambition matches ours and we can’t wait to start working with him.”
The transfer is subject FA and EFL Clearance.
