Walsall defender Max Melbourne was delighted to score on his debut and hopes there will be more to come.
The 22-year-old joined the club on transfer deadline day and impressed as he helped the Saddlers earn a point against Mansfield Town on Tuesday.
Melbourne was disappointed he was unable to cap his debut with a victory but he was pleased to get on the scoresheet.
“On a personal note, it was great to get a goal,” he said.
“I scored a couple of years ago so it was good to get another one - hopefully, there will be many more to come.
“To be honest, I’ve not gone forward to often at set-pieces, I’ve always been the guy that has to stay back.
“So when I was given the role to get into the box my eyes lit up.
“Tyreik has put in a great ball and I would have been really disappointed to miss.
“But I was disappointed we didn’t come away with all three points.
“I thought we were capable of doing that it just wasn’t the night.”
Melbourne is now keen to kick on after a promising debut for the club.
The Saddlers take on Cheltenham Town on Saturday and will be looking to build on Tuesday’s point.
“We want to win as many games as possible,” insists Melbourne.
“We didn’t get the win against Mansfield but we are looking forward to Cheltenham.
“I am looking to play as much football as possible.
“I want to get as many games as possible under my belt.
“If I can kick o we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”
